What is SecuraScan used for?+

SecuraScan is a handheld scanner for inventory tracking in storerooms that do not have automated vending. It is used to scan bins, drawers, and shelves at check-out, run cycle counts, and feed consumption data into the SecuraSmart inventory cloud. Common users include MRO storeroom staff, VMI distributor reps, and plant maintenance teams managing slow-moving inventory.

Does SecuraScan need WiFi or cellular to work?+

No. SecuraScan runs in full offline mode with local transaction storage. Scan in warehouses, bunkers, and field sites where there is no signal - the handheld holds the data and syncs to SecuraSmart cloud the moment it finds connectivity. Cellular and WiFi modes are also supported when available.

What barcodes does SecuraScan read?+

All standard 1D barcodes (UPC, Code 128, Code 39), 2D codes (QR, GS1 DataMatrix, PDF417), and the high-density industrial codes used in MRO and aerospace tooling. The Zebra industrial-grade laser scans through dirt, scuffs, and partial damage that defeat phone-camera scanners.

Can multiple workers use the same SecuraScan device?+

Yes - and it is how most plants run it. The handheld supports unlimited users with no per-seat licensing. Each scan logs the user via badge or PIN, so check-out tracking stays accurate even when the device passes between shifts. No need for every worker to install an app on their phone.

How does SecuraScan integrate with SecuraStock vending machines?+

Same SecuraSmart cloud. Vending consumption data and SecuraScan check-out data flow into the same inventory dashboard. Reorder triggers cover the full storeroom - the items in vending machines and the items on plain bins. One report instead of two systems to reconcile.

How long does a cycle count take with SecuraScan?+

Roughly 20 minutes for a 200-bin storeroom, versus 4 to 6 hours for a manual paper count. The scanner walks the user through the route, captures the count per bin, flags variances against expected stock, and updates the inventory record automatically. Most plants move from quarterly counts to weekly counts after the speed-up.

Can VMI distributors use SecuraScan at customer sites?+

Yes. This is one of the most common deployment patterns. A VMI distributor rep covers multiple customer storerooms with one SecuraScan handheld, managing bin levels, replenishment, and reorder triggers without requiring the customer site to install vending hardware.

What is the warranty on SecuraScan?+

Three years on the SecuraScan platform. The Zebra scanner module carries Zebra's standard warranty separately. Most failures are dropped-device damage, which is covered under the standard SecuraStock service program.
